Megan Suri Instagram – Today is my dad’s birthday and his one year death anniversary!
Dude died at 67… 😭 I’m not making that up. Just a straight up legend.
He said to celebrate his life whenever he left, so today will always only be his birthday to me.
Wanted to share some pictures from my trip back to India earlier this year where I dispersed his ashes.
I visited the home and town he grew up in, which he described as the “golden years of his life.” (Lowkey kinda rude.)
I visited his school and the playground he discovered his first love: Cricket.
I even met some of his childhood friends who he loved dearly.
If you’re a child of immigrants, I highly recommend visiting the place your parents grew up.
There’s something so special and grounding about it that I can’t conceptualize into words. It’s just a beautiful feeling.
Anyone who knows me, knows the bond and love my dad and I shared. I feel connected to him to this day.
But I want to take a moment to thank you all for allowing me to grieve so publicly and openly.
I may have physically lost my dad, but I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the human experience by connecting with those of you who have lost someone dear as well.
I’m a better, more whole human from this entire experience, I like to think 🌻
