Patrisse Cullors Instagram – We are excited to announce our Los Angeles premiere screening of Close to Home, presented in collaboration with LA Emissary (@LA Emissary), Housing Now! California (@HousingNowCa) and The Los Angeles LGBT Center (@lalgbtcenter). The screening will be followed by a panel conversation between the cast and collaborators. Open to the public, and free admission with RSVP tickets (link in bio).
Close to Home was produced by Patrisse Cullors (@osopepatrisse) under her production company, Abolitionist Entertainment (@abolitionist_entertainment_), with filmmaker Whitney Skauge (@whitneyskauge) and filmed during Patrisse’s time as Creative Strategist for the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture (@lacountyarts) alongside the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative. The film focuses on members of the Youth Advocates from the LA Emissary as they share their lived experiences of homelessness and reimagine a future where housing is a human right.
Close to Home is the winner of Best Documentary Film at the LGBTQ Toronto & Los Angeles Film Festival (@lgbttorontola) and was a Semi-Finalist for the Seattle Film Festival (@seattlefilmfestival). | Posted on 05/Nov/2025 23:47:02
