Patrisse Cullors Instagram – The LA Emissary (@laemissary) Youth Advocates draw on their own experiences with homelessness to create systems of support through their program resources. Close to Home captures a glimpse into the reality of these experiences, documenting the impact of how being centered in the conversation regarding resources can ultimately help transform the lives of folks experiencing housing instability into communities that can thrive.
Close to Home was produced by Patrisse Cullors (@osopepatrisse) and filmmaker Whitney Gauge (@whitneyskauge) during Patrisseās time as Creative Strategist for the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture (@lacountyarts) alongside the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative.
Close to Home is also a winner for Best Documentary at the LGBTQ Toronto & Los Angeles Film Festival (@lgbttorontola) as well as a Semi-Finalist for the Seattle Film Festival (@seattlefilmfestival).
