The actress has come a long way from the tiny forested village in Norway where she grew up; now, she’s putting her country on the international film scene in a major way. In 2021, she made her global breakthrough in Joachim Trier’s (@nobledanceroslo) ‘The Worst Person in the World,’ which won her the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival. This past spring, she and Trier returned to Cannes with ‘Sentimental Value’—an already-buzzy familial drama that, she admits, was one of the hardest things she’s ever done.
“It’s a world that, from when I was very young, I just never thought I would be this deep into,” she says. “I’m still pinching my arm.”
