@roisinmurphyofficial I could fill a book with things you don’t know about the science, history, culture, and community of transgender, intersex, and gender non-conforming people. I hoped you would take time and get some information not from Facebook, but from writers, researchers, scientists and actual transgender people instead of your new best friends, the comment section. It struck me that maybe you wouldn’t be particularly trans literate, a big reader as I said. I think that is for a couple of reasons. The first one was that, I’m guessing here, is the last book you read was The da Vinci Code, and thought it was non-fiction. And then I realised maybe there was another reason that you lot, who are so afraid of otherness that you are opening the door to a place in history that your grandchildren will be ashamed to admit you ever stood—didn’t know anything what you are so vocal and confident to blab about with absolutely no clinical understanding. You are simply illiterate about that which has radicalised you. Ruined you. You think being trans is a fad. You think it is new. And part of that is because you’re stupid. I knew that the day that you were in America when Trump was re-elected bragging about your big trip to the gun range, shooting, AKs with Republicans, preaching unity and holding the kind of gun that has blown thousands of children in American schools to pieces. I also noticed that even we though met in Palestine, I don’t see you bragging about THAT in the streets today. you haven’t said a peep about the Palestinian babies being blown to bits. You are for once quiet. We met people who had endured generations of racism, apartheid, torture, ghettoized, swathes of people disappeared, checkpoints, dirty water. — stop me if you’ve heard this one before? Since we both know you’re not a big reader, I found a short video explainer. I realized you might think that being trans new is because of something that happened in Germany in 1933! And which you simply would not be aware of! And while you’re stupid, and bless your heart you truly are stupid—even a smart person can’t read a burned book.

America, full of grace and curses. Lonesome hotels. The dance felt heavy. Everyone says leave it all on the field. What a field must have grown before lights up on lights down low. The kind of people who make you remember the fucking point. We are here to take up space, make noise. And now? Exhaustion. Sweat on the walls. Harnesses. Very little weather. I am not dead but alive doesn’t seem to express this feeling either. God help us if this place, gets all the way out of its cage. I am defeated. I love the battle of Los Angeles. Great work.

Listening to other people when they tell you about their lives. That’s my kind of humbling. Tell me who you are. I believe you. I’m with you. Nearly a decade ago, I was allowed the great privilege of being invited to travel with several other western artists I admired greatly, of open hearted curiosity and conscience, flying over 12,000 km and crossing that terrible wall just at the border of Bethlehem. I can’t speak for anyone else but for me being a vocal witness to what we saw was mandatory. I never imagined I would make music, friends, family and experience what life is like on the other side of this wall which traps ordinary non-violent Palestinians in the occupied territory which is now contains an officially designated genocide per the United Nations. I I mean, who could see this up close, forming personal relationships with a people under decades of persecution simply because of who they are and not speak out. One would hope all of us who participated were called to action, both then and now.. And to be able to do this right here with you and with music we made is a blessing and a calling I am honored to answer. That’s a joyful noise worth making on the internet.
Very little makes sense in this world. This makes sense. Thank you @alvrzpat for being in here with me, for carrying my voice back to me in your pocket safely, for letting me try to speak in yours, for walking into a dark room with me and believing the darkness could hold beauty, safety and joy instead of bracing for a monster. I wish sometimes i could explain what’s in this video to other people. But maybe it’s better that this thing is just for us no matter what we say or do. Thank God, it happened either way. See you next month, brother. Godspeed Margie
