Yolanthe Cabau Instagram – Asia is a part of the world where many Westerners go on vacation. I mostly visit for a different reason. Each year, I step into our shelters and our safe houses to meet the vulnerable girls we’ve rescued, and every single visit breaks my heart. The pain sits not only in their stories, but in their eyes, their small bodies, the way they hold their breath when a door closes too fast. No story ever gets easier. As It shouldn’t. Each one carves a new scar in my heart and I carry those scars with pride, because they remind me why we fight.
We sit on floors together and we color, we braid hair, we learn to say our names out loud again. Sometimes we laugh and play. Sometimes we just sit in silence and let the room be quiet. Healing is slow, and it is holy. These girls are not numbers. They are daughters, sisters, futures. In the same streets where tourists party and take photos, thousands of children are raped and abused every day. 💔 That truth is unbearable but it is changeable.
