It’s been a tough season. I honestly have wanted to hide and not share anything about my life. But these are the moments that I need to practice what I preach and have the courage to be vulnerable. This past January I had a miscarriage that surprised me and knocked me off my feet. Then a month later I lost a job that meant so much to me. I had thought I knew what the future would hold and in 30 days was brought to my knees with grief and confusion. I’m taking the next 30 days to do a self care project/promise/experiment! I’m curious as to what will happen and where this next season will take me. Right now, I’m CHOOSING (because damn I definitely don’t want) to put myself out there in a scary time. I don’t know what’s next and I want to say HERE I AM. I’m choosing this song today because it’s one of Jesse’s favorites and it’s so easy to love him for all of who he is and the stages he’s in. I want to do the same for myself. So here we go!

Day 4: Get on the ride! Jess and I went to the zoo and there was a train and a merry go round! He wanted to go on both and I wanted to make it happen for him! It’s really important to me that he sees that Mommy can be there to experience these things with him! We had the best time and I had to get a little creative to get on the train but we did it! I don’t take these moments for granted. I am so lucky to have the mobility to ride the rides with my son! ❤️🌞

Day 3: “who are you not to?” When I get the opportunity to perform for kids I take that opportunity seriously! I speak about my life and sing my favorite songs. Last night in Birmingham, Alabama I spoke about disability, both visible and invisible! I was a part of their disability festival that they’ve been running all year. So incredible! I also got to reconnect with one of my amazing dear friends @amandagonline who lives here! She brought her daughter and nieces and mom and sister in law! What an amazing night! Thank you all for coming out and filling my heart!

Happy #internationaldisabilityday to my people!! So grateful for this community and everyone who’s supported us! There’s so much to say. So much work still to be done, but for now I put this here to remind myself: TURN YOUR LIMITATIONS INTO OPPORTUNITES!
Day 5! Growing new roots! I made my own “raised bed” with a wagon from my BFF @allileigh3 ! I’ve never gardened at my height before and I LOVED it! Any friends in chairs, this is a great gardening solution!! 🍅🌱🪴🪻

Watching kids laugh, play, and just be themselves… it’s the kind of joy we all need more of. That’s why I’m inspired by @seriousfun_camps . They create safe, fun spaces where children with serious illnesses like cancer, epilepsy, and sickle cell disease can simply be kids. Kids first, patients second. I got to visit last summer, and everything from the facilities to the people to the campers themselves – absolutely incredible. Check out seriousfun.org to see how you can help bring joy, hope, and plenty of s’mores to life next summer!
