Listen. There’s Lily and there’s Nina Simone…there’s @taylorswift, there’s @thediamandagalas and @phoebebridgers and @yokoono and @alanis and @anidifranco and on and on…there’s as many ways to sing about trauma as there are women who endure it.
Whether you like your heartbreak songs with heavy metal guitar drenched in distortion or delivered by ukulele; whether or not you like or dislike autotune isn’t the point. It’s her unique voice and it’s her vehicle out of hell. Listen.
