There are no words big enough for my father. And still, my heart keeps reaching for them. I am his namesake. I looked up to him. I adored him. We laughed so much, the kind of laughter that lives in your body long after the sound is gone. He walked beside me through so many chapters: cheering me on, dancing with me, praying over me, feeding me, advising me, believing in me. He inspired me with his ambition, his poetry, his singing, his beautiful prayers, and his deep, stubborn love for life. He fought so hard. So much harder than anyone should have to. He’s resting now, peacefully. We both summited Kilimanjaro, at different times, and I always hoped we’d go back to Tanzania together. A place that lived in both of our hearts. Or having him watch the sunset with me at my new place. Or walking me down the aisle one day. Or watching his grandkids. So many dreams I don’t know how to hold without him. There is so much more I wanted him to see me do or talk to him about. So much more life I wanted us to share. Losing him feels like losing a limb. Like learning how to breathe in a body that’s suddenly changed. I can’t believe you’re gone, Papa. But I will carry you…in my name, in my prayers, in my laughter, in every mountain still waiting. I love you Papa. And I can still hear you say, I love you more. 🤍
