• The Blind Perpetrator • One day, in the scarily not too distant future, we are going to realise what it means to evolve from being the blind perpetrator, to becoming the victim. As this runaway train of the fishing industry finally exhausts the last of the planet’s fish stocks, the ecosystem that sustains all life on earth will collapse and with it, humanity. A desperate victim, caught in its own net. There is no hiding from these facts any longer – as a species, we must take a long, hard look at where we each individually contribute to demand. Where is our food sourced from? At what cost? Is the price being paid too high for the planet to recover from? Can we learn to live in rhythm with the seasons and more local food availability? Can we reduce consumption of that which travels around the world, or contributes to the pillaging of endangered species that suffer a tragic end, simply as a result of a cruel mistaken identity. What is the true price of the food on our plate? None of us are perfect, but we all have a duty to reassess and challenge our own choices. These choices can shapeshift with time – what once felt justifiable, may no longer sit comfortably. That is for each of us to decide, but I hope it’s a decision that can at least be made with the wool pulled away from our eyes. I believe conscious decisions begin with facing the reality of the consequences of our actions. What are yours? Deepest admiration for my incredible muse @ariadna_hafez, for placing herself in a state of distress to share this story and use her art as a form of stewardship. You are a true sirena and I’m so honoured to create with you 🤍 Huge thanks to our amazing safety @paulsbucketlists for making this challenging concept possible
