Bailey Bass Instagram – Dear curly girlies,

I learned this press tour that wearing my curls out and proud, with braids and twists, extensions and wigs, that my curls are a form of protest. With each look since I started press in 2022, I have made a conscious decision to not blow out my hair. To challenge how curls can be represented on the biggest stages across the world. I blew out my hair because I didn’t want to overcorrect, and I deserve to lavish in all the wonders that my curls can transform into. With that, I stepped outside feeling beautiful as I did with every look, but was reminded of how others look at me differently with blown out hair — as a “softer” beauty. With that, I am proud that washing my hair and returning to my curls felt so powerful. Though to most, stepping on a carpet with braids and curls may seem small, to the curly girlies, these little bits of representation matter. Wear your curls out and proud, celebrate others’ differences, and remember your beauty is a result of generations of culture and legacy xoxo
