More than we expected.
More than we were ready for.
Some seasons do not end neatly.
They leave residue.
Grief that has not fully spoken.
Fatigue that has not been witnessed.
Questions that never resolved themselves.
And still, the light returns.
The winter solstice does not arrive with spectacle.
It comes quietly.
The longest night giving way to the smallest increase in light.
Almost imperceptible.
But faithful.
This is not about pretending the darkness did not matter.
It mattered.
It shaped us.
It asked something real of us.
But there is a moment when we are invited to loosen our grip.
Not to forget.
Not to bypass.
But to stop carrying what no longer needs to be held so tightly.
To let the year complete itself.
To let the darkness have had its say.
And to make room for what comes next.
Light does not rush in.
It waits until we are willing to receive it.
And maybe that is the work of this season.
Not fixing.
Not forcing.
Just allowing the smallest turning toward warmth.
Toward hope.
Toward presence.
The light is already on its way✨
