Gracing the Cannes red carpet in a pure zari Kanchivaram saree — handwoven over 400 hours by master artisans near Chettinad — this ensemble is more than couture. It is a revival of beauty almost lost to time.
Inspired by a sepia photograph from a 1950s Chettinad wedding, the design draws from a moment of quiet bridal grace. From that image, a forgotten weave was brought back to life — reinterpreted with reverence, crafted with devotion.
The saree, dyed in sacred vermillion red, is adorned with pure gold mayil (peacock) motifs — not scattered, but composed, echoing the rhythmic elegance of temple friezes. A symbol of divine femininity, each motif is a prayer woven into silk.
There are no borders. No contrasts. Just a seamless expanse of silk and gold — powerful in its purity, graceful in its restraint.
Paired with a bespoke corset blouse, sculpted and hand-embroidered by four artisans over 250 hours, the look merges heritage with modernity. Micro-zari, zardosi, and beadwork — every thread an ode to meticulous artistry.
