She was so teeny! It’s hard to imagine now and everyone says they grow up so fast so you need to enjoy it, but I’m loving watching her grow up and change (something I then feel guilty about feeling because it goes against what everyone says!). You don’t get a *lot* of feedback from them when they’re that small but when they start to smile, giggle and generally make ridiculous noises, it really is all worth it (development this week is impersonating a parakeet). So glad we have pics like this from @ to look back on, thank you so much again for being so kind on the day and giving us such beautiful shots 💕

Boekrecensie van Chimène 💛 Allereerst dank aan @uitgeverijthb van wie wij dit recensie-exemplaar hebben mogen ontvangen. Super bedankt! ☺️ In dit boek volg je meerdere personen op het eiland Orkney, maar vooral Evie staat centraal. Na twintig jaar komt zij terug op het eiland waar zij is opgegroeid. En hoewel de meeste mensen wel blij zijn om Evie weer terug te zien, is haar zus Liv dat niet. Ik vond dit echt een mooi verhaal (én de kleurrijke cover, I love it)! Het wordt verteld vanuit meerdere tijdlijnen. Door de fijne schrijfstijl zat ik er echt meteen in en had het verhaal mij te pakken. Dankzij de verschillende tijdlijnen krijg je beetje bij beetje een beter beeld van het leven en de familie van Evie. En de schrijfster weet ook de gevoelens en belevenissen van andere personages goed onder woorden te brengen, waardoor je bijvoorbeeld uiteindelijk ook meer begrip krijgt voor de boze Liv. Daarnaast hebben we volgens mij allemaal een Freya nodig in ons leven 🥰 Overigens dacht ik door de flaptekst dat het verhaal vooral in het teken zou staan van Evie die steeds samen met de groep openwaterzwemmers zou gaan zwemmen, maar dit had in mijn beleving echt een minimale rol. Daardoor vind ik ook de titel van het boek niet helemaal matchen met het verhaal, maar ik denk dat je de titel ook wat figuurlijk kunt opvatten. Ik raad in ieder geval iedereen aan om dit mooie boek te lezen 😊 Achterin het boek staat nog een kort interview met de schrijfster, dat vond ik een leuke afsluiting! As patron for @musclehelpfoundation (MHF), I see the incredible work they do to with their Muscle Dreams initiative for vulnerable children, young people and adults living with Muscular Dystrophy across the UK.
