Mara Wilson Instagram – The Betsy-Tacy Books, by Maud Hart Lovelace, were EVERYTHING to me when I was a little girl. My mother had read them as a child, and I fell in love with them, too. They’re such a beautiful portrayal of girlhood and friendship at the turn of the 20th Century.
So, of course, I jumped at the chance to go to the @betsy_tacy_convention, hosted by the @betsytacysociety. I gave a speech, and was warmly welcomed by fans of all ages. Then, I got to go around town and see the houses where all the people who inspired the characters lived (Tib’s “chocolate-colored house!” Betsy’s house! Tacy’s house!) Yes, I teared up.
