Thank you @northern_broadsides @lauriesansom1 for asking me and my hubby @sirtomshaw to be a part of ‘Iron People’ Another job where I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with new people. This community project has been an absolute joy from day 1. We had workshops, ideas were born – we played and it took me right back to lots of my movement direction @cssdlondon thanks @jennifermalarkey @northernrascals We had performers from our very own drama academy @laneshawacademy united with Park Youth Theatre…I have a feeling we will be sharing ideas again very soon @kasharshaddirector To witness people who had never acted before come alive on stage when they might never get the opportunity was amazing. Then when it all came together with the puppetry @thingumatheatre and Elland Silver Band my heart just burst. Stage management, Costume the fantastic @laraboothdesign, sound who helped us fill that gigantic stage @eurekamuseum and be heard all over Halifax. @jessrooney_ for all the marketing and fab BTS. You the audience were brilliant – what a vibe! This story is very important. Look after your environment – listen to the younger generation and come together as one because that way we are much stronger! Lastly thanks to my mama who did all the childcare this week! This is a personal story about going through IVF and is based on true events. IVF never guarantees you a child, it just gives you the hope that you might. As a male going through the process I began to feel unimportant and marginalised, almost an invisible figure. I can count on one hand how many times I was called by name. All help was to my partner, she was the centre of it all. However we always saw it as a team effort in order to succeed, we had to stick together. You need to find incredible strength, courage, and belief to keep going, to keep trying. For me it triggered severe anxiety, something which I now deal with daily, and I wrote this script as part therapy back in 2021 after our tenth failed transfer. I wanted the film to highlight the struggle of going through IVF, to educate people how hard it is. Allow people going through IVF to feel seen. Or a film to send to friends who don’t understand. Maybe it can change the way men are treated in the process. Male feelings are just as valid. Above all I wanted to give Hope to people to keep going. A like and a share, will hopefully help start more conversations. There was very little resources when we were going through IVF, but the organisations below have been very supportive.
