Shaimaa Saif Instagram – Unapologetic, optimistic and true to herself. This month, meet Egyptian actress and comedian #ShimaaSeif in a whole new light. Refusing to be discouraged by a society that often holds Arab women more accountable than men, Shimaa chooses instead to see its criticism as proof of women’s power and influence. “I prefer to always be a source of people’s happiness, not their sorrow,” she tells #VogueArabia. Known for her infectious humour, Shimaa believes that comedy – the genre closest to her heart – still doesn’t receive the attention it deserves, even though it remains what audiences love most. “Whenever I meet people on the street,” she shares, “they always ask me to do more comedies – stories that make them laugh and help them escape the pressures of everyday life.” Now, Seif is preparing for her first leading role in a film –a comedy-drama she’s been developing with care and patience, determined to deliver something meaningful and memorable. “I just want my name, Shimaa Seif, to stand on its own – accompanied by a smile in people’s minds. That alone is enough for me,” she says.
متفائلة، أصيلة، واثقة. في هذا الشهر، نكتشف الوجه الآخر للممثلة والكوميدية المصرية شيماء سيف. ترفض شيماء الاستسلام لضغوط مجتمع يميل لتحميل المرأة العربية مسؤوليات تفوق مسؤوليات الرجل، بل ترى أن انتقاداته دليل على قوة المرأة وتأثيرها. وتصرّح لڤوغ العربية: “أفضل أن أكون دائمًا مصدرًا لسعادة الناس وليس لحزنهم “. ترى شيماء، المعروفة بلمستها الفكاهية المؤثرة، أن الكوميديا، المجال الأحب لقلبها، لا تزال تُعامل باهتمام أقل مما تستحق، رغم عشق الجمهور لها. وتؤكد: ” دائمًا عندما أقابل الناس في الشارع يكون طلبهم الدائم مني أن أُكثِر من الأعمال التي تضحكهم وتساعدهم على الهرب من ضغوطات الحياة”. تستعد شيماء سيف حاليًا لخوض تجربتها السينمائية الأولى بدور بطولة في فيلم كوميدي درامي، وهي تكرس وقتها وجهدها لتطويره ببطء وحرص، مُصمّمة على تقديم عمل هادف لا يُنسى، وتقول: ” أفضل أن يُذكر اسمي “شيماء سيف” فقط، وأن ترافق اسمي ابتسامة في أذهان الناس، فذلك يكفيني ويرضيني”.
