V. E. Schwab Instagram – If you saw me on tour this year, you might have heard me say, “I want you to love this book, but I wrote 24 for you—this one’s for me.” It isn’t strictly true. Every book is for me FIRST, long before it’s for you. But I knew there was a chance that this one wouldn’t find an audience. It was dark, it was messy, it was…combative. A reckoning for and with myself.
Some of you have loved it, while others hated it. Some simply haven’t “gotten” it, while others have slipped into the groove I carved like it was meant for them as well as me.
No matter how it made you feel, I’m glad you trusted me enough to try.
