Vidushi Malpani Instagram – The Taken Road
I used to stand at crossroads
thinking too long,
wondering what life would look like
if I had chosen the other turn,
the one I left untouched
like a dream I was too scared to hold.
But the truth is simple
and a little soft around the edges.
The road I didn’t choose
is not mine,
never was.
It is only a shadow
of a life that doesn’t exist,
a whisper of a version of me
I never became.
So I look at the path beneath my feet,
the one I finally dared to take,
the one that felt right
in that trembling moment
when my heart chose
before my mind could argue.
Some days this road is gentle,
lined with light
and small victories
that feel like secret blessings.
Some days
it is heavy
and painfully slow.
Rough stones,
unexpected turns,
quiet disappointments
that settle into the bones.
But even then
I remind myself
there is no road
without its storms.
No journey
without weight.
No choice
that comes wrapped only in ease.
And still,
I do not regret this one.
Because I chose it
with the courage I had,
with the truth I knew,
with the readiness
my heart whispered into me
when everything else felt unsure.
This road may break me,
shape me,
stretch me,
but it is mine.
So I walk it freely,
without peeking back
at the life I never lived.
Every step I take
is a small promise
to honour the path
that carried me this far.
And even if it gets hard
and even if I get tired
I know this much is true.
The taken road
is beautiful
because I chose it.
