Adrienne C. Moore Instagram – I never want to forget the sound of his voice. That slow Southern drawl, the slight hint of his stutter and of course his contagious chuckle. To know my dad is to know that his middle name was, “Coach.” Not only did he lead several sports teams (football, baseball, basketball and golf) at Fisk University to many championships (there’s a scholarship in his honor); he was also my coach in life. His calm and subtle way of offering correction was the perfect antidote to my “Hot Head.” He had a way of challenging you to be and do better, while also encouraging you at the same time. He would often tell me, “I know you can do better, Adrienne.” And I could and I would try to, because he believed in me and made me, believe in myself more. I miss that.
In honor of my dad’s birthday, I’m playing this video of me hitting balls cause that was one of our favorite past times together. I play it from time to time cause I want to remember his voice.
Happy Birthday, Papa! You are missed everyday. But we will never forget you, your voice and the incredible impact you made in our lives. Love you!
