Stacey Plaskett Instagram – Who said J’ouvert is only about jumping up?
Right in the middle of J’ouvert, with the music shaking the streets of Frederiksted, Congresswoman stacey_plaskett and I turned the road into a classroom.
We spoke about the contributions of Virgin Islanders to the world.
General Budhoe.
Alexander Hamilton.
Hubert Harrison.
D. Hamilton Jackson.
Freedom fighters. Thinkers. Leaders. Builders.
A small territory with massive global impact.
The music was loud. The culture was alive.
So we added subtitles and kept the conversation going.
Because Jouvert isn’t only movement.
It’s memory. It’s identity. It’s legacy.
This is what makes the U.S. Virgin Islands special.
You don’t just visit. You feel it. You learn it. You carry it with you.
Thank you Congresswoman Delegate Stacey Plaskett for your representation and for always honoring where we come from. 🇻🇮
And for the record… once again Stacey, that’s my brother you see dancing up all over the place, not me! Everybody know dat 😫
