Once told she was “too old” to be signed at twenty-seven, Tiwa Savage (@tiwasavage) has been defying expectations all the way through her two-decade-long career. The ‘Queen of Afrobeats’ has built something even more powerful than chart success (though she’s had plenty of that, too) — she’s created a legacy that lifts others up. “You could be twenty-five and not be signed and think that’s too late, but you can always look at Tiwa Savage,” the ‘On The Low’ singer reflects. From being dubbed the ‘African Rihanna’ to hearing young artists referred to as ‘the new Tiwa Savage’, she’s living proof that timing isn’t what makes a legacy last — authenticity is. “I’m gonna be singing in a wheelchair,” Savage says. “I’m still gonna be looking hot and I can still take your man.”
