(Statement by Iranian Filmmakers in Support of the People of Iran)
We, the filmmakers of Iran, condemn the suppression of the people’s protests under any pretext. Protest is a natural and civil right of every human being. No power has the right to place itself above the people.
Firing on unarmed people who have come into the streets is a crime against the right to life and has no justification.
For nearly half a century, despite the vast natural and human resources of our beloved country Iran, neither justice, nor prosperity, nor security has been achieved.
Organized corruption, the plundering of public wealth, and a fear-driven ideology have dragged people’s lives into poverty, suffocation, and despair, while national resources have been destroyed in regional conflicts.
We, the filmmakers, will portray these days and these wounds. With all our strength, we will defend the right to freedom of expression, condemn the repression and killing of protesting people, and stand alongside the people of Iran. | Posted on 20/Jan/2026 19:55:52
