“Nudes” invites visitors to take a fresh look at the representation of the female body in art history. A history of seeing—and being seen. At the heart of “Nudes” lies a subtle shift away from long-held ideals, presenting bodies not as perfect forms, but as unique appearances — vulnerable, powerful and contradictory.
The image above shows one photograph from the series „Let Me In” by Zurich-based Yemeni-Egyptian-American artist Yumna Al-Arashi, which she made alongside nude sculptures of women in Zürich, as such not only commenting on her own cultural background, but also addressing the anonymity of these female sculptures.
