This day I woke up with the simple intention of diving w/ @alexsharks_ but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine we would be gifted a moment like this. Our beautiful ocean opened its heart and welcomed us into the presence of seven majestic orcas. What I cherish most about this encounter was the feeling that washed over me, pure freedom. Not just for me but for them. They were right where they were meant to be, in the open ocean, side by side with their loved ones, roaming endlessly through the world they were born to explore. Yet today, many orcas are still held in captivity.. animals who once traveled up to 100 miles a day now confined to tanks millions of times smaller than their natural range. Experiencing only stress, isolation and a longing for the freedom they deserve. I encourage you to help these incredible beings find their way back to the lives they were meant to live. Spread awareness, say no to supporting captive orcas/dolphins parks and stand behind laws that protect them from captivity. 1. Don’t buy a ticket to captivity shows 2. Go to the open ocean only with certified operators that prioritize the wellbeing of marine life. 3. Spread the word about misinformation and poor education in the topic.. this is the biggest threat to these animals. Together, we can help ensure that more orcas live the way these seven did!
