Nearly 25 years ago, as a young medical officer, I performed an emergency surgery on a little girl— who had suffered a severe through-and-through lip-to-cheek injury after an accident. It was one of those cases where you just act on instinct, skill, and faith… hoping life will be kind to the child beyond the operation theatre.
Today, she walked into my clinic again.
Not as a patient defined by a scar… but as a confident young woman seeking a natural revision. She didn’t even know she was meeting the same doctor who had stitched her face and her future together decades ago.
The scar did not stop her dreams.
It did not define her story.
