Her Majesty’s love for Thai silk not only revived a treasured national art form but also restored livelihoods, pride, and purpose to thousands of Thai families across the country. In 1976, she established the SUPPORT Foundation to provide supplementary occupations for farmers facing unstable incomes due to changing rainfall and climate conditions. By encouraging traditional craftsmanship and local wisdom, she helped transform humble village weaving into a globally celebrated craft ~ instilling hope in communities that continue to thrive to this day.
One of my fondest memories was modeling the exquisite creations of Thailand’s top designers for Her Majesty’s fashion showcases. I’ll never forget walking the runway outdoors, where the very villagers who wove the silk I was wearing watched with pride and delight. It was a beautiful full-circle moment to witness their craftsmanship being celebrated on a stage that honored them in return.
Her Majesty’s elegance, compassion, and radiant smile touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to be in her presence. Her legacy continues to shine in every thread of Thai silk — a symbol of artistry, resilience, and love for our people and culture. 💙
