Had to let go of my Steinway Grand when I permanently moved from LA to NYC. I miss it ( the piano, not LA ). It was my one big purchase/gift to myself after filming Crazy Rich Asians. Playing it was therapeutic. Maybe one day when the kids are grown and out of the house I will have space for a piano again! @steinwayandsons

The Terminal List is a project I did more recently. Based off of the bestselling novel by @jackcarrusa (who is one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met) it’s an action packed thriller full of surprises. My scenes in the final episode are the kind of scenes actors dream of (thank you writers!) loved working with @prattprattpratt and @antoinefuqua and @digiliofilms and the entire creative team and cast and amazing crew on this. I felt so good and supported and cared for on this show and it made me feel like I was finally healing, finally starting to feel like myself again. In Hollywood, you’re sometimes harassed and bullied and pressured in a way that becomes really demoralizing. But working with the folks on Terminal List restored my faith that there are really good people in Hollywood too. All my love and light on this one.
While I was off the grid recovering, I took a little break from my acting career. But during that time I did do a couple select small projects with people I love and trusted. I Was a Simple Man was one of those projects. It premiered at Sundance last year and is now available for streaming on Criterion. Since I wasn’t on social media back when it came out, I wasn’t able to share. But now that I’m back on here for a bit, wanted to share this beautiful film by my dear friend @makotoyogi who I love and admire very much. Loved the cast and crew and heart of this experience. SOLOS was another project I did while I was off of social media, recovering, so I wasn’t able to share it on here when it premiered on @amazonprime last spring. But wanted to share it now bc it’s a beautiful, moving show with some extraordinary fellow actors. Each episode is only one actor (which made it a very COVID safe work environment 🙏) in a standalone story but the episodes are all thematically connected by their reverence for the human condition. The theater nerd in me loved how I essentially got to do a 16-minute monologue. (Fellow thespians will appreciate!) It only took two days to shoot and I had a wonderful experience with the crew and director @thedavidweil who was as kind and compassionate and caring as could be. I shot this a few months after giving birth and I was nursing my baby between lighting setups so you can also check out my temporary boob job in it lol. Back when I played a drunk angel. I was two months postpartum, breastfeeding between takes of an 18-min monologue. The new mom sleep deprivation kinda felt like a hangover and was therefore quite beneficial for playing this role! Method acting lol. Did ya’ll catch Solos on @amazonprime ?
