Faith Evans embodies what R&B meant to the 90s, an amazing vocalist and a consummate performer!
Thinking about how it was over 30 years ago when she dropped that debut album, Faith, and from front to back and back to front that album was played with NO skips, this could’ve just been another post about that album, that’s how miraculous it is, but as an artist I have to give Faith her flowers!
Faith brought so much to R&B, the looks, the attitude, and let’s not forget the vocals! She was like the girl next door! I always say R&B today is missing that church sound, we are far removed from the days of the girls that grew up singing in Church every Sunday, and Faith was and is THAT, the R&B heir to Karen Clark Sheard.
Faith took Puffy’s Bad Boy records to the next level, her debut album “Faith” is still one of the greatest R&B albums ever and one of my favorites, those days of working with Chucky Thompson in the lab creating nothing but magic, those days we’ll never get back but we get to relive them when we hear the likes of Faith!
I don’t think Faith gets her proper respect a lot of the time when it comes to R&B, and she’s paved the way for so many, and has never been afraid to let us know who paved the way for her!
