Marisa Tomei Instagram – some experiences stretch you in ways you do not expect, and carrying the torch in milan was one of them. it was wonderful to return to the motherland as i trotted toward the opening ceremonies with the flame. there were children on shoulders and elders waving with pride, the energy felt generous and full of life.
milan’s history, architecture, laughter created this current of emotion. it was impossible not to feel connected to something bigger in that moment. having my family there to look over and remember that while the olympics belong to the world, the love that carries you through them belongs to the people closest to you. i am profoundly grateful for the honor and for every single person who made that day possible. i am still holding it close.
in true dream-come-to-life form, my particular torch carry ended and began at the “piccolo teatro” theatre, i could hardly believe my eyes. you see, each torch carry has its own location.
