Ariana DeBose Instagram – Early this morning my Nana, Mary Virginia DeBose passed away peacefully holding my aunts hand. She was the best grandmother a girl could’ve hoped for🤍 I am so grateful I made it in time to spend her final day with her✨ and my god was it magical! Filled with love and laughter.
She was a southern belle to the core, the kindest soul, the biggest heart, and spitfire to boot. She was fierce for me from the start, proud of my achievements, but always ready to support me and help me take my lumps with grace. An ardent @ronniemcdowellofficial fan, she took me to my first concert when I was tee-tiny which is probably where I got my love of live music. She loved to garden and her rose bushes were her pride and joy!
A tough cookie and a fighter- She survived a pancreatic cancer diagnosis during the pandemic and we got 8 more years with her. For that, I will always be grateful.
The loss is great as she was loved by so many, but the memories and love are stronger than anything. I am so thankful for all the support we had in caring for her these last few months. Community and friendship sustained her.
