Bailey Bass Instagram – Happy International Women’s Day🤍Although this holiday, March 8th, is not celebrated as boastfully and joyously as it is in Belarus and many other countries, I want to remind you all to take today and this week to treat the women in your lives with extra love.
Growing up, I looked forward to the day I would be celebrated as a woman on Women’s Day. Today, as I have for a couple of years now, I was greated by my grandpa’s celebration of me and it has warmed my heart for the past couple of years.
When working with @nineteen92mag (photoshoot pictures here) a couple months ago, I wrote about reaching a point where I recognized I no longer fit the word “girl” and can fully sit in the comfort of being a “woman”.
In this transition, learning to mother the girl, my inner child, has been essential. Though, the confidence in knowing that chapter of my life has closed comes with bittersweet growth. Understanding how the world looks at me differently. The cat calling, objectification, and inflation of the worth in my beauty and youthfulness has been frustrating.
Yes, I am using this special holiday as an excuse to remind you all that woman of all ages and backgrounds deserve to be celebrated and protected relentlessly.
