Carol Vorderman Instagram – CAROL VORDERMAN BURSARIES AT SWANSEA UNIVERSITY
Every year I give £20,000 to @swanseauni Maths Dept. This funds 9 students each year from disadvantaged backgrounds with £2,000 over the course of their 3 years. The rest of the money is for travel and other support. We’ve been running for quite a few years now so there are almoat 30 undergrads receiving part of their bursaries in this academic year alone and it will go on happening 🥰
Why?
I was a free school meals kid at a comprehensive in North Wales many years ago. The effort and love my teachers gave me, and the chances I was offered, changed my world.
And I love to pay forward (or give back, however you prefer to say it) 😁
That’s why I’ve created and given these Carol Vorderman Maths Access Bursaries at @swanseauni . You’ll hear from two bursary winners, Rowan, a second year undergraduate, in this carousel, and see Jody from Neath who’s got her first honours degree and is now studying for her Masters.
✅ Worth £2,000
✅ For UK applicants to full time undergraduate Mathematics or Actuarial Science starting September 2026
✅ Applications are assessed by a panel looking at your background, plus your answers on motivation for university, inspiring others to enjoy maths, and your career aspirations
✅ Applicants from Wales and or disadvantaged backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply
