Sgt. Benjamin Pennington.
I saw his age in the headlines and felt the rage and despair of 19 years ago when my own childhood friend, Sgt. Scott Kirkpatrick -26 – was killed in Iraq.
Benjamin’s death will destroy his family. It will unravel a number of his childhood friends. They will fall into addiction or depression. Or anger and paranoia. But they won’t ever be the same. I speak from experience. Scott’s death destroyed so many of us.
I’m a gray haired woman now. Reduced to tears like it just happened. How is he still 26?
What are we even doing?
We’re sending our loved ones to die for billionaires who treat them like disposable video game characters?
The leaders of our country claim they’re fighting for the freedom of other nations’ citizens, while bombing them and ripping away our freedoms here at home with such speed that our activists can’t keep up.
Be angry.
I hated this movie the first time I watched it.
I refuse to watch it again.
