When director Anthony Ma was a kid, a pastor told him the jade necklace his mother gave him was evil. The comment stayed with him for years and eventually became the spark for God & Buddha Are Friends, a story about faith, family and the cultural gaps many Asian American kids grow up navigating.⁠

The short stars Karin Anna Cheung, Janet Hsieh and Jim Meskimen, and has screened at festivals including CAAMFest and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.⁠
