As a little kid the earliest stories I remember my mother reading to me were Greek myths. I said silent prayers to Hermes before the 100 yard dash, and to Athena before tests. Yes, I was a hard core nerd. That the Fates have allowed me to join Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson universe with this extraordinary cast and crew is literally a dream come true. 🙏🏼
Well, hello Fire Horse🔥🐎❤️ I love you already. LFG Happy New Year to you all!

Looking back at my first experience at #Sundance, it was a dream. A mad band of us-Steve Buscemi, Seymour Cassel, Sam Rockwell, Stanley Tucci, Jim Jarmusch, Carol Kane, Lizzie Bracco, Debi Mazar, Will Patton-came together to make a film written and directed by Alexandre Rockwell and shot by Phil Parmet. It was an insane labor of love, shot guerrilla style in NYC. Alex wrote the script in long hand which I would type as soon as he passed me new pages. I fell in love with independent filmmaking. The DOINGness of it, the community of it. And then what felt like the longest of long shots happened. We were invited to go to Sundance. In those days not everyone was on a huge press tour, interview after interview crammed one after another. There was time to meet other filmmakers and make mischief. We made so many new friends, talked cinema all night long. Yes, there were Dionysian snow ball fights. And then the unthinkable happened, In the Soup won the Grand Jury Prize and Seymour won a special prize for his singular performance. What a dreamscape for independent filmmakers. Thank you, Robert Redford wherever you may be for creating such an intoxicating, supportive dreamscape. To all you filmmakers out there, keep dreaming. 📸 @fastphilm

Alexandre Rockwell has made yet another stunning film, The Projectionist, executive produced by Quentin Tarantino. Vondie Hall gives a performance that will knock your socks off, as the saying goes. The film opens at the Slamdance Film Festival on February 19. Please join me for what will be an incredible screening. Hope to see you there!
