Jessica Yellin Instagram – The U.S. is sending thousands of Marines and three warships to the Middle East, adding to the more than 50,000 troops already stationed there as tensions with Iran continue. About 2,500 Marines from California’s 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Boxer and two other ships will rotate in next month, ready to conduct air or ground operations if needed.
While President Trump has said he isn’t planning a ground invasion, keeping these forces in the region allows rapid response and citizen evacuation. This comes days after the Pentagon requested over $200 billion to support ongoing operations.
