Jessica Yellin Instagram – A federal judge in Oregon ruled that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. overstepped his legal authority when he declared in December that gender-affirming medical care for minors “does not meet professionally recognized standards.”
After Kennedy’s statement, the federal government began signaling that hospitals and medical providers offering these treatments could face consequences, particularly regarding federal funding programs like Medicare and Medicaid. This effectively put providers on notice that continuing to offer such care might risk losing federal support.
Twenty-one states sued the Department of Health and Human Services, arguing he bypassed required rule-making procedures. The judge agreed the policy change couldn’t be made unilaterally and blocked it from taking effect. | Posted on 21/Mar/2026 00:51:30
