Around the world, nearly 80% of people displaced by disaster and conflict are women and children. Women often bear the disproportionate impacts of displacement- from high rates of gender-based violence, economic loss, interrupted education, and higher risks around maternal health. And yet, in every community we serve, women are also the bedrock of recovery. ShelterBox is there to support women facing these hardest moments- providing shelter, tools, training, and resources so families can begin to rebuild their lives. Meet Jordana Brewster, panelist for ShelterBox USA’s International Women’s Day celebration. Best known for her role as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise, one of the highest-grossing film series of all time, Jordana brings a global perspective to her work both on and off screen. Born in Panama City, Panama, raised in Rio, and later moving to New York City, she graduated from Yale University with a degree in English. Beyond her two-decade career in film and television, Jordana is a passionate advocate. She has spoken openly about surrogacy and fertility challenges, helping destigmatize conversations around family building. As a working mother, she champions authenticity, resilience, and empowering young women to pursue their dreams with confidence. We look forward to her voice on our International Women’s Day panel.
