Laverne Cox Instagram – As you know I collect vintage and archival #ThierryMugler. I found this smoking jacket on Etsy maybe 5 years ago. I was excited by the brown label which indicated late 1970s, early 1980s Mugler. The shoulder construction and seams reminded me of his vampire suits from fall 1988. I couldn’t find documentation of the jacket to identify the exact collection. But I was obsessed. The collar was so unique. Then the Alaia x Mugler exhibit dropped in Paris last year. There it was opening the show. It was a longer version than mine. But to discover that Alaia had designed it for Mugler made it even more special. These kinds of discoveries are the moments I live for as a collector. Fashion history I get to wear. How special!
