Getting to be a party of @uglycrymovie was a such a big moment for me. There is so much darkness in the world right now, so many people who are being silenced and so much injustice but this film gives me hope for the female voices in cinema. @emilyrobinson made a movie completely on her own terms and explored the pressure our world puts on woman to be “perfect”. She beautifully depicts the path to this societal ideal is rife with anxiety and danger. I love you @ryan_the_ryan @theaarondominguez @sophsabel @pabs.feldman @tristanscottbehrends. With all the recent posts about the Venice film festival it seemed appropriate to share this photo and the story behind it. Winning the Volpe Cup was by far the greatest moment of my career so far. It felt so good to be embraced by the jury who’d made films that I loved. The incidentals from the hotel stay were more than the entirety of my bank account but for the first time in my life, I felt like I was enough and I might actually have a career with legs. @bob_gosse63 @hjthomasjr you were dream collaborators. I bought this dress at @prada warehouse after I’d found out I’d won. The festival kindly offered to pay for my hotel incidentals for the awards ceremony.
