Recently, I stepped into the music lab with 7x Grammy winner Dave Reitzas to record something for my son. I did it because there’s a quiet fear that lives with MS, that one day, I may lose my voice. It lingers when I speak publicly. It shows up when dystonia does. And it reminds me that nothing is guaranteed. So I wanted him to have something lasting. Something my own mother passed down to me and my sisters. It’s a forever memory of mine. Now, I feel it as a piece of me: steady, clear, and full of love. If anything ever changes, he, and maybe one day his growing family, will be able to hear me as I am right now. Okay… maybe a slightly more in-tune, incredibly engineered version of me. That’s where my brilliant friend came in. Not an easy job… but I am so touched and thankful @davereitzas . Hero. You.
Looking at little me, I know how frightened I was of the years ahead, thinking I would fail as a grown up, always anxious about how people learned to live , much less thrive. But I am here, grown, and I know now, I had reason to be terrified. It’s been a ride in every way , but I keep showing up. Because this is the only thing I have learned that for certain, I can do. And in doing so, I met a young girl years ago while speaking in Texas. It was a memorable night and we have been friends since. Yesterday, she sent me this video of me . She told me it was a trend based on a movie with Brittany Murphy from back in the day. And We were friends. And sometimes I miss her very much. It all has touched me so. Life keeps turning, and I am here with you too, my friend. And to all of you on this ride with me. Keep on. 🤍

One of the greatest rewards in my life has been meeting people who truly inspire me. @assita_kanko is one of those people. We first connected through Instagram, and I’ve been continually impressed by her courage, conviction, and all that she has accomplished. Traveling to Europe to participate in her podcast was an extraordinary experience. Through her generosity, I had the honor of being introduced to Roberta Metsola (President of the EU) and other remarkable international leaders, including the Prime Minister Bart De Wever, individuals whose dedication to service and leadership left a lasting impact on me. Every person I met on this to trip moved me in some way. I am deeply grateful, for the conversations, the warmth, and the inspiration. Thank you. And all while walking the beautiful streets of Brussels in my finery. 💅
