Tonight at the Sondheim Awards Gala, I had the privilege of being by the side of this year’s honoree, my dear friend @vanessawilliamsofficial ✨ as she was celebrated in the most extraordinary way. I watched Vanessa take it all in… her friends, her peers, these remarkable performers bringing the music to life… and the joy on her face was everything.
To witness someone who has poured so much into the world be poured into like that… it’s something I will carry with me. I found myself beaming right along with her… and I’m still smiling ear to ear.
The evening, hosted by the brilliant @michaelurielikesit featured unforgettable performances by @arianadebose @thenormlewis , @_soleapfeiffer , Nancy Anderson, @iamsimplynova @_kujichagulia_ and @markgmeadows – each one a beautiful tribute.
Vanessa, with your birthday just days away, I can’t think of a more meaningful way to step into a new year… surrounded by love and the reflection of all the lives you’ve touched.
I know @gagawilliams would approve and she is so proud.
