Platon Instagram - Dear friends, here is something for the holidays. I took this picture of Adele in a private and secret location in London, away from the madness that often comes with celebrity. She had recently had a beautiful little baby boy and I was so thrilled that while we were working, her baby with was us keeping us company. As I prepared to take this particular frame, focusing on Adele’s eyelash, her son was crawling around her feet. Suddenly, he started to squeeze her ankles with his tiny fingers. As she felt the pressure on her foot, her spirit instantly transformed. This is not the face of one of the world’s greatest superstars, this is the soul of a loving young mother. Adele, thank you for sharing that day with me and thank you for your trust. We had a human moment together and it is now embedded in this picture forever more. To Adele and all the working mothers of the world, I salute you.

Platon Instagram - harry styles. I took this picture during a whirlwind photo session with the entire One Direction clan. I remember having one hour to photograph a group shot, as well as individual sittings with each band member. This restrictive timing only added to the intensity of the moment. I must admit, I knew very little about the group, but I am always happy to learn, and at the time of the photo session I was told they were the biggest act in the world. Harry clearly stood out for me. In this picture he has a magical quality, and it was so easy to capture him. He was charming and inquisitive, and I was surprised at how unguarded he was. I post this picture as a tribute to Harry who has now emerged as a major artist in his own right. I was proud to include Harry’s iris in my latest NFT drop, and I am pleased to announce @talb3311 is the winner of our competition – GUESS WHO? Congratulations on winning my signed copy of PLATON’S REPUBLIC. Thank you all for playing the game. Harry Styles, EYE salute you.

Platon Instagram - Dear friends, it’s been a long time since I have posted and I apologize for my absence. I have been completely consumed with some really, really exciting new initiatives and plans. I am hoping to shake up the world as we come out of lockdown. In the meantime, I wanted to tell you a story that may resonate with you. I spent a day with George Clooney in his Hollywood garden some time ago. We had worked together 25 years earlier as we were both beginning our careers and it was so nice to reconnect. We are much older now and hopefully wiser. I asked him to describe our time. He said that we are living through an extraordinary period in history, that we have more information at our fingertips and more connectivity than ever before yet somehow, we seem to know less. He continued…if we want to get the news today, we probably go to a source online that confirms what we already believe, and so we are in danger of being trapped in our own echo chamber – and that magical thing called a shared experience, where we respectfully debate our differences, is rapidly disappearing. Yet as I write this post today, I am reminded of our beautiful and unique community. I know for sure you are all different types of people who believe in different things, yet you continue to engage with my stories, and I am always inspired by your uplifting and thoughtful comments. Your support reinforces my optimism for a brighter, fairer and more inclusive future. We show up and we are present. At the end of my day with George I asked, “What do you hope for as we face these challenges?” He said, “I hope for reason because reason always wins out.” George Clooney, I salute you.

Platon Instagram - bobby weir. “Bobby Weir walked into my New York studio with an entourage - a crew who were clearly protective yet, everybody knew something special was about to happen. The atmosphere was respectful and charged. The man looked like a wizard - a thick, hand-knitted cloak draped over his shoulders, a worn leather cowboy hat topped waves of pure white hair, his snow beard was biblical, his eyes were on fire. This is a mystical man. The dialogue started immediately with a warm handshake, ‘I’m Bobby Weir, I play music and I tell stories.’ He continued, ‘it's all about story telling - any artist is first and foremost a storyteller - it's an urge that we artists have - it's my escape - I get to step aside, I get to be somebody else and that somebody else is - ALL OF US. IT’S A SHARED EXPERIENCE.’ I asked Bobby about current divisions in our society and after a long, searching pause he spoke, ‘when people fall into the music all their tribal considerations fall away and their rooted humanity is what everyone shares. For instance, when Hank Williams sings about loneliness it's totally universal.’ Bobby then quotes with the respect of history - ‘THE SILENCE OF A FALLING STAR LIGHTS UP A PURPLE SKY, AND AS I WONDER WHERE YOU ARE, I’M SO LONELY I COULD CRY. He’s sharing some pain there but it’s something we can all feel.’ Another long pause - I’m waiting with anticipation for his thought process to resolve… then he continues, ‘that's something worth doing - to empathize with people.’ I asked Bobby about the meaning of people power, he said ‘I know we are all one. I’ve seen it - I’ve felt it. It's hard to get that across to some folks - that I am you and you are me, but it’s the truth, I know that. I guess it's difficult for a lot of people to accept the fact that you really are insignificant - and the more we come to that realization, the more we can accept the fact that we all share a common humanity.’ Bobby Weir, you are a wonderful and mystical human being, I salute you.” @gq
