Recently we reported that Tamannah has been signed to play the female lead in the Tamil remake of the Telugu super hit Pelli Choopulu. The remake rights of the Telugu super hit film has been bought by Gautham Menon for his Ondraga Entertainment banner. Senthil Veerasamy who produced RajaThandhiram will be directing the Tamil remake of Pelli Choopulu.
The team is now in talks with Vishnu Vishal to portray the male lead for the movie.
The makers of the movie were on a hunt for the male lead. It was learned earlier from the sources close to the crew that Udhayanidhi was approached earlier to play the male lead. However, the talks with the “Manithan” actor did not go through as expected. If the sources are to be believed, even Nivin Pauly and Vaibhav were approached earlier for playing the lethargic protagonist.
Vishnu Vishal who has already got quite a few films already in his kitty is yet to nod his head for the movie. The Mundaasupatti actor is already doing a film with director Ram of Mundaasupatti fame and also another couple of films with directors Chella and Muruganandham.
Pelli Choopulu is the maiden movie of the director Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam. The movie revolves around a protagonist who leads a carefree life and a girl whom he meets at a matchmaking the ceremony and finds out that they share the same dream. Vijay Devarakonda and Ritu Varma played the leading couple.
It is to be noted that Ritu Varma has been signed to play an important character in Gautham’s upcoming Dhruva Natchathiram with Vikram in the lead.
While talking in a recent interview Gautham told that although he is not much interested in remakes, Pelli Choopulu impressed him so much that he wanted to take that to Tamil audience. He said that right after the show I initiated the steps to buy the remake rights for the film. He also added that when you see a kind of film where the entire theater couldn’t stop laughing throughout the runtime, this is how a producer would respond.
As a producer, Gautham immediately sprang to action to sign Tamannah in the leading female role for the movie. Tamannah who enjoyed the movie herself okayed the script without much thought.
