We face grave challenges, and despite seductive promises of technological empowerment and connectivity from our tech titans, we remain a fractured and dark society. Our identity is defined by tribalism. Our beliefs are informed by echo chambers. Social media corporations have benefited from our new filter bubble existence (rewarding us with programmed endorphin rushes, thus keeping us glued to their platforms). Furthermore, the new media giants have also played a devastating role in the disruption of our long trusted institutions. Our capacity to reflect on current events with tempered context and objectivity is now hindered. News channels today often embrace a misguided greed for augmented metrics and viewing figures, rather than fair and balanced information. FRIENDS, it is time to embrace a new bright dawn. It is time to lead public opinion rather than follow it. Our reliance on focus groups shall be replaced by our steadfast faith in truth and justice. If we are to enjoy the fruits of individual empowerment, then we must also exercise responsible global citizenship and moral compass. Suspicion and slander are infections, but so is compassion and empathy. So I say come on then, let us go forward together in our united strength, let us all belong to a nobel cause again. We are all equal stake holders. We are all future champions of the human condition. To be a leader is to embrace servitude. So let’s be useful, let’s do our duty, and let’s acknowledge that our differences are the making of our majestic greatness.
