Nandita Das Instagram – 22 years ago, I did Fire which sowed the seeds of this much needed conversation, that has somewhat found its culmination. In these last two decades I have engaged with many people on this subject and the reactions have ranged from extreme prejudice and vitriol to people who have been shocked and helpless with this archaic law that criminalized homosexuality in this day and age. In times when we should be fighting hate, lynchings, abuse and discrimination, we were stopping people from loving. This was long overdue. Rarely does a judgement so clearly address a historic wrong, a great new day for individual rights and freedoms in India. This is a human rights issue and impacts us all. I am glad that we can continue to have faith in our judicial system. Freedom to live and love is, and must be, for all. #LGBTRights #LoveWins
