I am so excited to finally share all of the final images from Project1127, a project with fashion designer Laura Siegel and other talented artists around the world. Since late 2014, we have been doing portrait sessions in various studios with people in the industry – celebrities, influencers and fashion insiders alike – who, by wearing white and one of the scarves, stand in solidarity with those affected by the Rana Plaza tragedy. In 2016, this project was featured on VOGUE.com
Designer Laura Siegel launched Project 1127 – a charity collection of limited-edition scarves – in memory of the 1,127 people killed when the Rana Plaza garment factory collapsed in Bangladesh in 2013. The designs, created in collaboration with local artisans in Kutch, are hand-woven in silk and cotton with pops of colour (rose pink, deep violet, aqua) courtesy of strips of recycled saris. Money raised from the scarves goes to the Sreepur Village Organisation, which currently supports 130 destitute mothers and 540 children in the area. Please check out the newly-launched website for more information: www.project1127.com
