Delicately shift your weight between the miracle that is life
You may not get me flowers today, or shit when I take you for a walk. You may fall when I leave and scratch the wood trying to right yourself. You may open your mouth when I lean in to kiss the soft place above your eye and paralyze me with your breath. You may need me more then sometimes I can bare, my love. But hey, I’d do this for another 16 years if I could because you are truly the deepest love I’ve had. Thanks for teaching me its sacrifices and it’s joy. Happy love day and no, she ain’t dead yet.

I hike because when my soul feels weak, it reminds me my body is strong. I hike because when I am hopeless it fills me with wonder. I hike because when I feel lost, it provides me endless trails to find myself. I hike because when I need community it surrounds me with birds, snakes, flowers, trees, deer, lizards and like minded humans. I hike because deep within me is a wanderer and the mountains never stop showing me how endlessly undiscovered it is. I hike because no matter where I am, it welcomes me home. #whyihike #eddiebauer Point Mugu State Park

To bra or not to bra
This coming Saturday, I am joining the family and friends of this beautiful child Noah to celebrate her short and monumental life. She passed away January of 2017 from congenital heart disease at the young age of 13. She would have been 16 this year so 16 miles we hike. 100% of funds raised will go to benefit the Lymphatic program. This includes flying doctors and nurses to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, to receive hands-on training by the leading doctors who started the lymphatic intervention procedure and who last treated Noah’s lymphatic condition. Funds will also go towards patients and families who need financial assistance while receiving this life saving procedure at UCLA, now the second pediatric lymphatic intervention clinic in the US. Noah was a beacon of light. I didn’t have the opportunity to meet her but I am grateful to know her story. If you have any extra funds, the link is in my profile and if not, I still love you and I imagine, so would she.

16 miles. 105 stories. 38,000 steps. A few wrong turns. One river crossing. One conviction of trespassing times 12 people. A barbed wire fence and a crate to take us over. A hero dog names max leading the way. A lot of sore hamstrings and some wet bruised feet. One beautiful child named Noah guiding us to the end. Because as she always said, “Who needs a map, let’s get lost.” Inspiring day with a group of warriors. In your honor Noah, we got lost.
