Mike Theiss Instagram – Best assignment ever !! A few years ago I was camping alone on top of the Kilauea volcano with a sky full of stars. I have never felt more connected to mother earth in my life. The glowing red in the cracks is a river of scorching hot molten lava flowing underneath my campsite and the red glow on the horizon is where the lava is dripping and oozing into the Pacific Ocean. Kilauea is an active shield volcano located at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island in the Hawaiian Islands, the most active of the five volcanoes that together form the islands of Hawaii.
